SYDNEY: Start-up strategic communications agency The Hallway has beefed up its senior management ranks with the appointment of ex-Host and DDB Melbourne talent.
Emma Gibson, former digital strategy director at Tribal DDB Melbourne, has joined The Hallway as Strategy Director. Gibson is joined by award-winning ex-Host young gun Tom Hull, who joins as Project Director.
“Emma has already made an enormous impact on The Hallway. She has a fantastic grasp of the way people are interacting with brands in the current media landscape and she really gets the technology,” said Jules Hall, founder and owner of The Hallway, who left NetX to establish the new shop in August last year.
“There are very few people out there that have the skill sets to compliment our business model. Emma has both the understanding of traditional brand planning and a really thorough knowledge of the technology that is increasingly influencing the media landscape,” added Hall.
Cutting his teeth at M&C Saatchi London, Hull moved to Sydney working for TBWA and Host running highly-awarded teams for Sony Playstation, Virgin Mobile and Staedtler.
“The combination of skill sets we now have at the centre of our business puts us in a really strong position,” said Hall. “We passionately believe in the importance of digital media, but we don’t believe it can work in isolation any longer. We are building a team that combines the best of digital and traditional thinking to enable us to deliver effective campaigns regardless of channel.”
Gibson and Hull’s appointments take the senior team to four, including existing team members Hall and John van Ogtrop, Head of Finance and Operations. The agency currently numbers six full-time staff, although Hall said that much of the production work was outsourced.
Clients include Jameson Irish Whiskey, Pernod Ricard, Merivale, AMP and the Green Air Fund.
